To identify key physical characteristics (e.g. bridge design, surrounding land use, etc.) that determine bat use of highway structures across varied climatic and habitat areas on a national scale.

Closed out. Once featured in a National Geographic article, this study developed a bridge design that will allow, and encourage, bats to live in harmony with specified bridges. (2/13/01)
