Objectives

The High Speed Electromagnetic Roadway Measurement and Evaluation System (HERMES) is a prototype system which has been designed, developed and delivered to the FHWA. The technology realized in this system is revolutionary and is as yet unknown to most of the States. In order to inform the States of this new technology, develop and solidify the required partnerships, and to define the scope of a national pool fund project for the development of the HERMES II such a project will require a separate planning and coordination phase. Such a planning and coordination project is the purpose of this proposal. (updated 7/7/01)

Comments

Still ongoing. The prototype - HERMESII -- is nearly complete. (2/11/02).
