Background

This is an ongoing TPF project that has an annual program determined by the TAC. This is ATL Experiment No. 13 for FY 2004.

Objectives

This study will evaluate the performance of thin bonded PCC overlays on existing PCC and HMA pavements. Four different sections will be constructed and distressed, then PCC overlays placed and loaded to failure. The parameters that effect the performance of these sections will be determined. Design input paramenters will be developed to modify and enhance existing design procedures for thin PCC overlays.

Scope of Work

Tasks: 1. Experiment Preparation 2. Construction of the Pavement Sections 3. Design and Construction of the Single Axle Bogie. 4. Full-Scale Accelerated Pavement Testing. 5. Pavement Monitoring 6a. Analysis of Results. 6b. Measurement of Interface Bond. 7. Report Writing and Results. See attached proposal for more details.
