Study Description

The Bridge Quality Assurance Division of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PENNDOT's) Bureau of Design has developed a design standard for pot bearings. This was done in order to try to standardize pot bearing designs within Pennsylvania, to include all the details for pot bearings on the design plans, and to eliminate fabricator designs during the construction phase of projects. PENNDOT is now interested in taking this standard to the next level to make it a regional and possibly even national standard.

Objectives

To develop a national or regional pot bearing standard.

Scope of Work

Please see the attached link.

Comments

This transportation pooled fund project was approved to use 100% SP&R funds on February 15, 2000.
