| Objectives: | Recent reports from the FHWA and Texas A&M University highlight the apparent problems with using existing methods for Micro-Surfacing and suggest that comprehensive mix design and analysis procedures need to be developed. It is believed that a Micro-Surfacing Mix design procedure is essential to elevate this surface treatment method to the highest level of acceptance. The procedure should establish the level of components in the mixture and the tests run must predict performance. The mix design procedure should address several specific aspects of micro-surfacing. |
| Comments: | The contract was awarded to Frugro-BRE of Austin, Texas on July 1, 2003. A literature search has begun and includes both national and international references. Also, a survey of micro-surfacing and slurry seal uses and experiences has been sent out to the States and industry. Information gathered in this phase of the study will be used to identify performance parameters that are essential for success. |
