| Background: | This is an ongoing project that has an annual program determined by the TAC. |
| Objectives: | To evaluate various pavement components such as bases, ACP and PCCP using full scale accelerated pavement testing as determined by the TAC. |
| Scope of Work: | Each annual work program has a specific scope of work. See attached proposals for details. |
| Comments: | We are soliciting new partners for experiment no. 16 titled "Accelerated Pavement Testing of Low-Volume Roads with Geocell Reinforcement". This experiment will apply 500,000 passes of an 18-kip single axle load (dual tire) to four test sections. Test sections will be constructed using crushed limestone (AB-3), quarry waste (limestone screenings)and recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) as in-fill material. Control section will be 12-inch crushed limestone (AB-3). A 2-inch Superpave 12.5A hot mix asphalt overlay will be placed over all sections. Cost of experiment is $286,000. We are requesting commitments of approximately $60,000 each from four additional partners to fund this experiment. |
