To develop enhanced guidance and low-cost, effective solutions for major crash concerns identified in AASHTO¿s Strategic Highway Safety Plan. The goal is to facilitate implementation of solutions that have the potential to reduce fatal crashes by at least 10 to 15 percent in 3 to 5 years. Guidebooks will be developed for the following crash concerns: truck-related, pedestrian in large urban areas, utility pole, curve-related, signalized intersections, older drivers, and unbelted drivers and occupants.
